Tasting notes
(tasted from barrel; 100% vendange entier): Rather oaky aromas of chocolate mint, licorice, pepper and herbs. Supple on entry, then a bit dry in the middle, with a slight greenness to the flavors of licorice, pepper, spices and game. Plenty of texture here but this wine is currently dominated by its oak and stem components. I'm not wild for the flavors.

An exuberantly spicy nose of elegant and pure red currant and red pinot fruit aromas complements perfectly the refined and intensely mineral-driven flavors that possess outstanding detail and intensity on the driving and hugely long finish. This stylish and classy effort does display a bit of wood though here it's very much a background element. This is a really lovely combination of finesse, power, balance and focus that should amply repay extended cellaring. In a word, terrific. Tasted: Apr 15, 2013. Drink: 2023+
