Highly distinctive, wild, soil-driven aromas of fresh hay, smoke, orange zest and cinnamon. Very dry but very intensely flavored; an uncompromising, adult style of Champagne that's currently rather dominated by its acidity but has the structure and concentration to reward aging. The flavors have impressive thrust and follow through. This reminded me a bit of the '85.
