When asked about an older vintage of Lirac, Ambre Delorme offered up this superb bottle of 2010 Lirac Cuvee de la Reine des Bois. Loaded with complex scents of leather, dried spices and red fruit, it's still full-bodied and supple, with a long, velvety finish. It appears to be drinking at peak but with several more years left.

Smoky and full and satisfying. Full bodied but with sufficient tension. Big and round but finishes lissom with a note of quinine. Big but long. (JR)

The best vintage of this cuvee to date, the stunning 2010 Domaine de la Mordorée Lirac Cuvée de la Reine des Bois is a blend of equal parts Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre that was aged 70% in stainless steel, and 30% in oak casks. Incredibly elegant and poised, yet with lavish richness, concentration and depth, this full-bodied effort possesses classy, complex aromas of dark fruits, licorice, spice-box, and assorted crushed flower characteristics. Quite possibly the greatest Lirac I have tasted, this beauty needs 2-3 years of bottle age, and will have upwards of a decade of total longevity.

(made from equal parts grenache, mourvedre and syrah): Bright purple. Seductively perfumed aromas of blackberry, cherry-cola and violet, with a spicy topnote. Lush and creamy but energetic, offering sweet dark berry flavors and a hint of licorice pastille. Smoothly combines richness and vivacity and finishes with alluring sweetness and an hint of candied flowers.
