All from the La Gardiole lieu-dit in the northern part of the appellation and mostly Grenache that was 50% destemmed, the 2012 Châteauneuf Du Pape A La Gloire De Mon Grand Pere sports a rounder, more supple, sexy profile with spicy red and black fruits, garrigue, Provençal herbs, and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, it has a supple, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. It's drinking brilliantly today and shows the charming, Provençal, satisfying style of this vintage. Drink 2025-2037. Run by Nicolas Boiron and his wife Jeanne-Claire, with their daughters Eva and Anna now taking a larger and larger role, Bosquet des Papes continues to produce a range of styles across their roughly 32 hectares. The classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape (75% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre) is old-school and traditional, while they also produce three special cuvées: Les 7 de Pignan (from seven parcels in the sandy soils of Pignan), A La Gloire de Mon Grand-Père (100% Grenache from clay soils in Gardiole), and Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes (85% Grenache from 100-year-old vines, not destemmed). These are rich, powerful, character-filled wines that have gained considerable elegance and purity over the past decade or more. They are incredibly Provençal, satisfying wines that deserve a place in any Southern Rhône lover's cellar.

The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape A la Gloire de Mon Grand-Père is in no danger of falling over, still continuing to pump out black cherries accented by hints of roasted meat and asphalt. Full-bodied and muscular, this 100% Grenache still has some drying tannins on the finish. If you prefer your wines even more resolved, you may like it even more in several years' time.

Still young yet just starting to open up, the 2012 Châteauneuf Du Pape A la Gloire De Mon Grand-Père boasts a brilliant array of kirsch and black cherry fruits intermixed with lots of roasted herbs, licorice, fennel, and camphor aromas and flavors. It's beautiful on the palate and as seamless as they come, with a silky, full-bodied mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great finish. Enjoy bottles any time over the coming decade.

Brilliant ruby-red. Heady aromas of candied raspberry, garrigue and Asian spices, with a peppery nuance adding lift. Supple, sweet and focused, offering sappy berry and floral pastille flavors with suggestions of licorice and mocha. Closes sweet, taut and very long, with an echo of fresh red berries and no obvious tannins.
