Honey, almonds, mint, tangerine and sweet spices are all very much alive in the 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet Champs Gain. Layered and viscous, but not at all heavy, the 2011 impresses for its balance and sense of proportion. This is a terrific showing.

Here too there is enough reduction to render the nose difficult to assess though the underlying fruit does appear to be quite ripe. By contrast there is good freshness and punch to the quite finely detailed and refined medium weight flavors that possess slightly better complexity and persistence. This is really very pretty and worth considering. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2018+
