2011 Morey St Denis La Riotte Vieilles Vignes

The 2011 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth and pure power. Dark red black fruit, tobacco, smoke, licorice and new leather all flesh out on the inviting, textured finish. This is another wine with great intensity of fruit married to considerable underlying structure. Today, the Riotte is pure pleasure.

Deep ruby-red. Complex, soil-driven aromas and flavors of minerals, black and white pepper, bitter chocolate, crushed rock, cinder and blood orange. Juicy, fine-grained and suave, with lovely balance and inner-mouth tension. Finishes with a peppery freshness and very good length, the firm tannins nicely buffered by the wine's mid-palate material. Perrot-Minot told me he has been vinifying this cuvee more gently over the past three or four years.
