Score 88/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Neal Martin, Mar 2024

The 1984 Cabernet Sauvignon has a slightly medicinal nose with maraschino cherries and raspberry fruit. It's a little dusty at first, but it intriguingly mutates into an almost Saint-Julien-like bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and poised with a grainy texture. Sure, there's a bit of dryness on the finish, expected after 40 years, but otherwise, this South African wine is holding up nicely. Tasted at Dorian restaurant in London.
