Score 90/100 · Drink 2024, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous
The 2002 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc makes the most of the worst vintage the Rhône Valley has seen in the new millennium. Delicate petrol, candle wax and dried lemon peel traces emerge, followed by bruised apple and honey aromas. Medium-bodied at most, the 2002 is distinctively elegant and finishes with a sapid culmination. Albeit past its prime, it remains full of life.
