Tasting notes
(80% chardonnay, 10% pinot noir and 10% pinot meunier; disgorged April, 2013): Bright yellow. Complex, highly perfumed scents of fresh nectarine and yellow apple, with notes of honey, fresh fig and jasmine expanding with aeration. Juicy and precise, offering vibrant pear and tangerine flavors and deeper pear skin and honey nuances on the back half. Shows impressive energy and breadth on the finish, leaving buttered toast and gingery spice notes behind.

Dried apricots, pears, honey, mint and Chamomile are some of many nuanced that flesh out in Le Brun Servenay's 2004 Brut Millesime Vieilles Vignes Exhilarante. I especially like the way the 2004 fleshes out in all directions, with seemingly endless layers of sweet perfumed fruit and fabulous balance. Deep, rich and creamy, the 2004 is notable for its fabulous balance and utterly compelling personality. There is plenty of structure and power in the glass, suggesting the 2004 is best enjoyed at the dinner table.
