Pretty, bright cherry-red. Musky redcurrant, dried flowers, mocha and mint on the nose, with complementary oak notes of clove and smoke. Suave, silky and pure, with lovely juicy lift to the flavors of red fruits, minerals, spices, white pepper and herbs. A rather Chambolle style of Gevrey. Tightly coiled but still pliant, finishing with dusty tannins and hints of earth and game.

Good dark red. Very pure aromas of medicinal dark cherry and licorice. Layered and sweet, with a lovely balance of ripe fruit and acidity. Less complex than the preceding examples from Chambolle and showing the somewhat tougher, dustier tannins of Gevrey. This finishes dry in a positive way, with the juiciness of the vintage. Incidentally, Faiveley has a new source for Combe aux Moines with this vintage, and yields are lower in this vineyard than in their old parcel, according to Hervet.

Pale crimson. Racy fruit but a bit of oak in evidence. Not harmonious. (JR)
