Score 85/100 · Daniel Thomases, Vinous
Medium garnet with a lighter edge. Overoaked nose offers little sense of sangiovese or of the territory. Round and quite spicy, with strong cinnamon and clove notes. Offers good intensity, but I find this to be a rather anonymous style of Brunello di Montalcino. It is wines like this that increase my doubts about the use of sizable percentages of new oak barrels for Brunello.
