Showing a bit of brick at the rim, Vieux Telegraphe's 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape remains a wonderfully complex, vibrant wine. Marked by scents of pressed flowers, a hint of button mushrooms and plenty of cherry-raspberry fruit, it's medium to full-bodied and silky textured, finishing long and complex.

An expression of autumnal, leafy and dried red berry fruits on the nose with some red licorice. too. Still very fresh. Terrific depth. Blue fruits and layered plum flavors. Elegant and powerful. Still super youthful. Extremely fine tannins that run long. Plush and refreshing. Saline kick to the finish.

Lightly animal nose and fully melded. Lots of sweetness. Spice and something quite medicinal. (JR)
