Tasting notes
Fine aromas of aged Châteauneuf: undergrowth, olive, polished wood. Lovely freshness and so finely balanced with the ageing fruit flavours filling out the dry but fully resolved tannins. (JH)

The 1997 Chateauneuf du Pape is an evolved, forward, richly fruity wine with medium body, and plenty of smoke, pepper, Allspice, black cherry and Provencal herb aromas. It is seductive, round, charming, and sexy. The wine reveals pepper and spicy aromas. Because of its fragility, Daniel Brunier intends to bottle the 1997 early to preserve its attractive level of fruit. This wine will not make old bones, but it will offer delicious drinking for 6-7 years. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524
