Good medium red. Enticing aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, minerals and spices. Sweet, supple and fine-grained, with red berry fruit complicated by notes of leather, tobacco and underbrush. A lively midweight with a touch of herbs on the smooth finish. Grew muskier as it opened in the glass, but in a good way.

12-15 months in oak, about 30-50% new. Mid ruby. Lovely aroma of red fruit, gently floral. Greater depth in the middle than the Beaune du Château. Relatively soft but harmonious and more persistent. (JH)
(these vines were picked first as the acidity level was dropping; tasted from tank): Bright, saturated dark red. Black cherry, wild herbs, licorice, mocha and spicy oak on the nose, along with a suggestion of dried berries. Sweet and full but with noteworthy sappiness to the red berry and cherry flavors. A ripe, sweet fruit bomb with round but firm tannins and lingering spices. These vines are planted along a north-south orientation, which protects them from the hottest midday sun.

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most established wine producers. Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, it is the largest vineyard owner in the Côte d’Or with 130 hectares of vines.
