Score 93/100 · Drink 2002-2012, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2001

The light-to-medium-bodied 1999 Chevalier-Montrachet has one of the longest, purest finishes I have encountered in a young wine. Minerals and limestone scents are revealed in its aromatics. This is a crystalline Chevalier, with unbelievably precise quartz, stone, and floral flavors that penetrate the taster's palate and don't relinquish their grip for over two minutes. If it had been denser and deeper this wine would undoubtedly have merited an even higher score. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2012. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; (202) 832-9083.
