Medium red. High-toned, expressive aromas of red fruits, flowers, spices, earth, meat and nutty oak. Silky, spicy and pungent, with lively flavors of strawberry, cranberry and rhubarb. Very suave and light on its feet. Finishes with dusty, broad, firm-edged tannins and excellent length. Faiveley was an early picker in 2003, as he is most years, and this wine would be difficult to identify as coming from a hot year.

Deep ruby-red. Explosive aromas of sweet cherry, blueberry and violet, with a hint of surmaturite Sweet and aromatic in the mouth as well, but showing terrific underlying structure and lift. Dense and fine-grained; perhaps the longest yet of these 2003s, with lovely balance.
