Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2030, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Oct 2022

This vintage marks the year that Clerc Milon was bought by Baron Philippe de Rothschild from the widow of a Pauillac notaire. I last tasted it around five years ago and it has held its line almost exactly, showing how slowly this estate ages even once it has hit full tertiary notes, which here translates to soy, salted almonds, soot, tobacco, earth and soft loganberry and strawberry fruits. Has a charm and a sweetness to the mid palate, and may surprise further, but it is clearly at a moment to drink. Exact blend not recorded, harvest September 28 to October 11. Raoul Blondin cellar master (across all three of Baron Philippe's Pauillac estates).
