A much riper nose than the 1996 with macerated black cherries, spice and redcurrants but without the lift and definition of ensuing vintages. A sweet, very supple, fleshy entry leads to a feminine, ripe, succulent palate with no rough edges and good extraction. Wild strawberry, redcurrant and cranberry with a slightly animally finish. Quintessential 1995. No doubt excellent value for an admirable Lafon-Rochet. Drink now-2020. Tasted October 2007. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com
Very bright crimson. Quite gamey and evolved on the nose. Lots of minerals there too. Not heavy. Quite delicate really. In that it’s a light-bodied but very evolved wine. A little drying on the end. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com
This wine may merit an outstanding score after several more years in the bottle. Although it has closed down since bottling, it is an impressively endowed, rich, sweet cassis smelling and tasting Lafon-Rochet. The wine's impressively saturated deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by vanillin, earth, and spicy scents, medium to full body, excellent to outstanding richness, and moderate tannin in the powerful, well-delineated finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2018. Feb 1998, www.robertparker.com
