The wines of Ch. Lafon-Rochet
Vines have been grown at this address since the 16th century, but it is when the Tesseron family (of Cognac and Ch. Pontet Canet fame) bought the estate in 1960 that its modern history begins. The Tesserons started investing in and renovating the estate, and are responsible for its brightly coloured frontage – painted in 2000. Basile Tesseron took over in 2007, dedicating himself to the development of the estate, hiring Jean-Claude Berrouet (of Pétrus) as consultant. This is when quality started to really improve, however it didn’t reach the heights that Ch. Pontet Canet did under the Tesseron rule.
