Tasting notes
The 1964 Lafon-Rochet is the second time I have encountered this vintage. This has light bricking on the rim. It has an attractive nose with vestiges of red fruit, morels, leather and light animal fur scents, probably not in the league of Montrose or Cos d'Estournel. The palate is medium-bodied, actually quite Burgundian in style, surprisingly fleshy with satisfying depth. There is a touch of Brettanomyces, a bit of the old "sweaty saddle", though it merely lends charm. Tasted at the Lafon-Rochet vertical at the property.
