Tasting notes
Good full medium red. Reticent but ripe nose dominated by plum. Big, rich and sweet but not over the top. Boasts impressive volume and a persistent, building finish featuring substantial dusty tannins. Much larger-scaled than the 2010 version but could use a bit more lift.

The 2009 Morey St. Denis Aux Charmes is powerful, intense and clenched. Dark fruit, licorice and violets are buttressed by firm tannins in this inward wine. Still, there is enough inner juiciness to suggest all this needs is time in bottle.
The 2009 Morey St. Denis Aux Charmes is powerful, intense and clenched. Dark fruit, licorice and violets are buttressed by firm tannins in this inward wine. Still, there is enough inner juiciness to suggest all this needs is time in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. Virgile Lignier’s 2009s show notable intensity and ripeness, but also preserve quite a bit of freshness through the use of whole clusters, which reach as much as 100% in two wines. The Bourgogne and Chambolle were bottled in December 2010. I tasted all of the other wines from tank. Bottling was scheduled for the end of March 2011. Juicy and vibrant fruit on the palate, lots of savoury tang, fresh acid and refreshing finish. Lean and lithe. (RH)
