Tasting notes
Good dark red. Cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and cedar on the nose. Tightly wound and powerful but with a distinctly cool aspect to the dark berry and eucalyptus flavors. Finishes with a firm tannic spine that will require time to unwind. I don't yet find the sweetness or flesh of the year but this is very young.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is raised in French oak for 18 months, 45% new. It has a lifted nose of dark plum and liquorice, with hints of blueberry following with aeration. The palate is vibrant and ripe on the entry: minty blackberry and boysenberry fruit that is well defined. The finish is rather conservative and does not really let go, but it remains a nicely composed, easy-drinking Cabernet. Drink now-2017. Importer: Cape Classics, New York, NY; Tel: (212) 686-1300.
