Tasting notes
Quince, orange blossoms, and apricots can be found in the aromas of Bongran's late harvest 1999 Macon-Villages Cuvee Levroutee. Medium to full-bodied, lush, and satin-textured, this is a rich, feminine, extremely well-made wine. Minerals, assorted white fruits, and berries can be found throughout its spicy and opulently textured character, as well as in its long, detailed finish. Projected maturity: now-2012. Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ, tel (908) 654-6173.

About the producer

Domaine de la Bongran is no ordinary Mâconnais estate. Since Jean Thévenet took over the domaine in 1972, this Viré-Clessé producer has become a cult name – with Jean a pioneer of organics and minimal intervention, as well as the estate’s unique wine style.
