Tasting notes
Dense plum/purple-colored, the 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Classique offers up gorgeous aromas of dried Provencal herbs, cedar, cherry jam, plums, and pepper. Ripe and full-bodied, with outstanding concentration as well as purity, this sexy, layered Chateauneuf will provide enjoyment over the next 12-15 years. Prices for the Boiron family wines remain among the most reasonable in Chateauneuf du Pape ... remarkable given the high quality of all three cuvees, and the fact that this family has been making Chateauneuf du Pape for five generations. (a blend based on 75% grenache) Medium ruby. Aromatic nose combines plum, tobacco and smoked meat. Lush, sweet and pliant, with generous fruit and texture. Finishes with substantial but thoroughly ripe tannins and a note of milk chocolate. Will be perfectly suited for early drinking.
