Opaque ruby. High-pitched aromas of spicy red berries, fresh flowers and peppery spices, with a hint of smokiness in the background. In the mouth, sweet, seamless raspberry and boysenberry flavors are lifted and sharpened by a peppery element and a hint of dusty minerals. Graceful and focused for an entry-level bottling, finishing with very good clarity and gently tannic persistence.

One of the top classic cuvées, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape (90% Grenache and 10% Syrah aged in a combination of different sized barrels) is medium to full-bodied, layered and downright sexy, with loads of sweet kirsch, blackberry, ground herbs and truffle. Already hard to resist, drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years.
