Deep, vivid ruby. Pungent, high-pitched aromas of cherry, black raspberry, lavender and white pepper, with a bright mineral topnote. Spicy and incisive, with juicy red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors that show an open-knit character. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, spice- and floral-accented finish. Unlike most 2010 Chateauneufs this fruit-driven wine is surprisingly accessible.

Not surprisingly, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape (Domaine de Vieux Lazaret) possesses more power, concentration and substance. Dense black raspberry, garrigue, licorice and floral notes are found in this pure, impressively full-bodied 2010 along with lots of fat, glycerin, flesh and succulence. Enjoy this beauty over the next 10-15 years. Jerome Quiot is one of the largest landholders and most influential political figures of the entire region. He also owns a number of domaines and produces significant amounts of Chateauneuf du Pape from his 125 acres of vines, most of it very good, often outstanding.
