Tasting notes
Very warm and spicy nose. Lots of heat on the front palate with tannins still in evidence. Quite a hot finish, but overall a juicy, accessible rendition of Châteauneuf with no shortage of fruit on the mid palate. (JR)

The classic 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape offers a Provencal concoction of ground pepper, dried herbs, spice box, new saddle leather, underbrush, and loads of cherries as well as black currants. Lush, expansive, and hedonistic, this sexy stuff can be consumed now and over the next 10-12 years. Importers: Paramount Brands, Port Chester, NY; tel.
