Score 94/100 · Drink 2009-2024, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sleeper in this charming, forward vintage that's drinking beautifully today. Roasted herbs, black licorice, garrigue, and ample sweet Grenache fruit dominated the bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, classic, rich and textured, it should continue to drink nicely for another 7-8 years, if not longer.

Deep red. Pungent red berry aromas are complicated by cured meat, herbs and dried lavender, with a hint of incense adding an exotic quality. Impressively fresh in the mouth, displaying sweet red fruit flavors and a suave, silky texture. The finishing flavors of zesty minerals and red fruits are strikingly pure and focused. You could easily drink this alluring wine right now.

Ruby-red. Spicy, vivid redcurrant and strawberry aromas possess impressive thrust. Zesty, finely etched red berry flavors pack lots of punch without any excess weight, finishing with excellent spicy lift. This is awfully appealing, especially for those who prefer the brighter side of wine.
