Medium red. Suave nose offers red fruits and blood orange, plus a whiff of peach. Supple on entry, then tighter in the middle, with noteworthy precision to the flavors of minerals, rose oil and spices. Finishes firmly tannic and a bit youthfully imploded. This wine has tightened up considerably since I tasted it in barrel and needs cellaring.

Good medium red. Wild aromas of mocha, chocolate, smoke and earth, along with an almost decadent whiff of red berries. Then supple and pliant, offering much more give than the Vignerondes. The red fruit, smoke and earth flavors are already quite demonstrative. This midsize wine, from poor soil that never produces a large crop, may evolve fairly quickly.

Mid ruby. Very exotic, not to say downright odd, oak on the nose. Very sweet and flattering but with quite a bit of gas and lots of acid and tannin. Not comfortable to taste now, though most of the ingredients are there. It may all fall into place. (JR)
