(for 1.5 liters) Moderately saturated medium red. Musky aromas of redcurrant, cherry and earth, with some autumnal mocha and spice notes building with air. Supple and moderately deep, with good flesh to the sweet redcurrant and smoke flavors. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins.

Good medium red. Roasted cherry, smoke, chocolate, leather and earth on the nose and palate. Sweet, dense and rich, with very good stuffing, but not yet harmonious for all its soil character. Lardiere is unlikely to bottle this before April.

The Clos des Ursules is a 2.75ha enclave within the Vignes Franches premier cru purchased by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in 1826, which has remained a solely owned property (monopole) of the Jadot family ever since. As part of Louis Jadot's celebration of 150 years of fine winemaking, the 2007 Beaune premier cru Clos des Ursules will be exclusively bottled in magnums. Lovely aromas of liquorice and cherry and a light vanilla note. Impossible not to want to taste this. Compared with many 2007s at this level, quite a firm grip but tannins are fine and smooth. Good colour too. Finishes slightly abruptly at the moment but the fruit is very good. (JH)
