Tasting notes
The 2000 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette was one of the few examples of this cuvee that appears to be on downward trajectory. Fully mature, with notions of dried earth, cured meats and evolved fruits, it's medium-bodied, soft and still enjoyable, with present sweet fruit. It's best consumed over the coming couple of years before it shows more oxidation.

100% Syrah, granite soil, 3-day pre-fermentation cold maceration, traditional fermentation in open-topped fermenters at 28º-30º C, MLF in barrel, aged 14-16 months in oak barrel (9% new). Savoury, slightly over-developed nose. I could do with just a hint more freshness but it is certainly very competently made. Hint of mint! And certainly liquorice. (JR)
