2010 Labadie

50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Attractive dark fruit with a very slight leafiness but not tarted up. A firm grip that's filled out by the fruit. Harmonious whole and a fine juicy finish. (JH)

Very fresh and almost explosive on the palate, so much ripe fruit is there. Fine, polished, a property that in the UK The Wine Society have had great success with. The 2009 has been selling at £70 a dozen so you could go for this without massive outlay – although I must say that the 2005 tasted on the same day was ok but not desperately inspiring.  (JR)

A brilliant cru bourgeois, Labadie’s 2010 is a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from proprietor Jerome Bibey. A deep, full-bodied, very concentrated wine with lots of black currant fruit as well as hints of blackberry, creosote, garrigue and earth, this is a dense, full-bodied, muscular, but impressively endowed offering.
