Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Robert Parker, Apr 2014

Now owned by the Dourthe negociant firm, the 2011 Rahoul offers up notes of tobacco leaf, spice box, black currants and cherries. One of the finest wines I have tasted from this estate in many years, it possesses good flesh and purity as well as the telltale smoke and burning ember-like characteristics of a classic Graves. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

Fragrant with cassis leaf and graphite: classic Graves aromas. Not quite as agile and bright on the palate, softer than I expected, rounded tannins but overall slightly hard on the finish. (JH)

Deep smudgy crimson. Very sweet, linctus-like red fruit on the nose. Quite spicy too. A touch confected. Very odd on the palate. Hard and very little fruit sweetness, dry finish. (JH)
