Tasting notes
Vivid ruby-red. An expressive nose displays redcurrant, raspberry, peppery spices and smoky garrigue. Silky and open-knit, with red berry, licorice and floral pastille flavors lifted by harmonious acidity. Finishes with silky tannins and strong, spicy persistence. Fresh and energetic, with plenty of immediate appeal.

Vivid red. A spicy, high-pitched bouquet evokes red and dark berries, star anise, lavender and musky herbs. Offers deep but energetic raspberry and cherry flavors, with the floral quality building with air and carrying through a long, sappy, impressively focused finish. This expressive wine should be drinking well soon after its release.
Bright red. A kaleidoscopic bouquet evokes wild red berries, Asian spices, dried flowers and minerals, with notes of smoke and anise adding complexity. Juicy, penetrating raspberry and cherry flavors pack a serious punch but show unlikely elegance at the same time. Bright and expansive on the finish, which strongly echoes the floral note. I underestimated these '08s last year by quite a bit.
About the producer

This very old-school property makes the most unique Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are fantastically complex and Boneauu made it as it would have been produced 100 years ago in the commune, using methods that familiar to any of the 11 generations of vignerons in his family who preceded him.
