Tasting notes
The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee exhibits a deep plum/ruby color as well as a sweet, ripe nose of black cherries, raspberries, resiny pine needles, licorice, and pepper. Dense, full-bodied, lush, and opulent, it should be drunk over the next 10-12 years. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565

Deep ruby-red. More exotic aromas of redcurrant, maraschino cherry and fruitcake. Dense, sweet and deep, offering more extract, pliancy and early fruit than the Prestige bottling. Still a bit medicinal in its youth, but here the slightly wild flavors of red plum and redcurrant show more personality. Finishes with firm tannins and a note of menthol.
