The 2000 Gigondas is a seductive, voluptuous effort displaying terrific notes of blackberry fruit, chocolate, and kirsch. (80% grenache and 20% mourvedre) Bright red-ruby. Tangy aromas of raspberry, black cherry and brown spices. Rich, fat and deep, with lovely penetrating sweetness and a firmly tannic finish. More aromatic in the mouth today than the Vacqueyras or Chateauneuf released under this label. Finishes with slightly edgy tannins and complex notes of spices, herbs, mocha, smoke and red fruits. Not hugely rich but compellingly scented Gigondas.
