Another outstanding wine in the vintage that's drinking at point today, the 2007 Gigondas offers a healthy ruby hue as well as classic Southern Rhône red and blackberry fruits as well as ground pepper, garrigue, underbrush, and sandalwood. More medium-bodied, it's nicely balances, has evolved tannins, and a supple, elegant, seamless texture that keeps you coming back to the glass.

Bright ruby. Dark berries and kirsch on the nose, with hints of smoky minerals and garrigue adding complexity. Sweet dark berry flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and pick up notes of candied flowers and cola on the back half. Smoothly blends depth and energy, with good mineral snap to penetrating cherry and cassis flavors on the long, spicy finish.
Savoury, fine pure dark berry fruit and a light peppery spice overlay. Remarkable intensity and reach without any heaviness or brawn. Long, spicy finish. Finesse to the end. (JH)
Inky ruby. Powerfully scented aromas of blackberry, brown spices, lavender and graphite. Fleshy but energetic, with spicy dark berry flavors and a velvety texture, with no tannins to get in the way of the fruit. Finishes broad, sappy and persistent. This is a blend of 67% grenache, 27% syrah and 6% mourvedre, vinified with 50% of the stems.
