The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve sees 14 months maturation in old oak barrels. It has a lifted waxy, more resinous bouquet that the regular Sauvignon Blanc; the tropical notes having ebbed in recent months. The palate is crisp and precise on the entry with grass clippings and citric peel, the finish penetrating and animated. I waxed lyrical about Duncan Savage’s take on Sauvignon Blanc at Cape Point in my last South Africa report and I revisited a couple of wines this year. Creamy lemon nose. Slightly grassy on the palate. Crystal clear, dry and very refreshing. Marked persistence and a long stony finish. (JH)
