The 1964 Pichon Baron is rather dour on the nose, leather and scorched earth scents, certainly a lack of fruit and I feel some dilution. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame sour red fruit, light and a little weak towards the finish. This is not undrinkable, but it is ordinary. Tasted at the Pichon Baron Ancienne Millésime tasting.
