Tasting notes
The 2004 Persia, a knock-out wine and again one with 10 years of longevity, is still selling for a modest price for as good as it is. It is deep ruby/purple with sweet blueberry, blackberry, and cassis notes, an opulent mouthfeel, and a beautifully pure finish with decent acidity and soft tannins. One of the best run if not the finest estate in the Cotes du Ventoux is Fondreche. Shrewd consumers should have been stocking up on these wines for a number of years as they represent terrific values. They all exhibit beautifully pure fruit infused with plenty of Provencal character. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083

Good spine and structure. A fragrant country wine, this is a serious liquid that needs a bit more time. It may yet prove a bargain. (JR)
