The 2003 Potensac has a mature nose with touches of loam and bacon fact infusing the black fruit. A menthol hint emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe core of fruit, admirable freshness, and not overly complex. There's maybe a touch of brett on the finish. But there is undoubtedly charm in situ. Drinking perfectly now. Tasted at the château.

A success in this torrid vintage, the 2003 Potensac offers up aromas of red fruit, cedar box and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant palate. At approaching age 20, it continues to drink very well, but there is no reason to defer gratification.

Deep garnet. Exotic and slightly oaky. Warm dark fruit. Lighter and more lithe on the palate. Juicy finish and overall in balance. (JH)
