Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005
(from the windswept Schaapenberg vineyard) Pungent, ripe aromas of passion fruit, elder flower, smoke and white pepper, with a hint of currant leaf. Offers a sweet impression on entry, then dense and very ripe in the middle, with a distinctly peppery impression. Finishes very long, dry and salty, with an almost tannic impression. This spent 18 hours on its skins, then got three months of lees contact.
