Score 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005
Aromas of gunflint and soft citrus fruits. Dense, supple and ripe, with the flint and mandarin flavors joined by minerals and talc. Thick but light on its feet. Broadens toward the back, then explodes with sweet/tart citrus, mineral and slate flavors on the aftertaste. This wonderfully long and large-scaled sauvignon really saturates the palate with flavor. A great sauvignon blanc by any standard; in comparison to this, the 2004 is still a baby.
