Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2004-2016, Robert Parker, Dec 2004

Made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre, the 2003 Rasteau Cuvee Paul-Emile displays more barrique-aging in the smoky aromatics, which also include scents of melted chocolate, black cherry liqueur, cassis, and a hint of roasted meats. This opulent, powerful, long wine is still playing it close to the vest. Nevertheless, there is plenty here, and my instincts suggest that in 3-4 years, this might be the better of the two cuvees, although both are potentially outstanding. It should drink well for 10-12 years. Importers: Daniel Johnnes, Jeroboam Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 625-2505 and World Shippers and Importers, Philadelphia, PA; tel. (215) 732-2018
