Rather a willowy, delicate constitution with fine acidity suggested on the nose. Lime flavours and some residual savoury oak notes. Bone-dry finish and just coming into its own. Lots to chew on for the moment and a bit of alcohol on the end for now. (JR)

Tasted blind, the 2011 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was a little subdued on the nose with faint scents of green apple, granite and flint, but missing the same intensity and ambition as the Bâtard-Montrachet. The palate has a low-key entry—it does not want to create too much of a fuss. But it soon gets its act together thanks to a welcome twist of bitter lemon and a spicy vein towards the understated finish. If it were a child in a choir, you would be encouraging them to "sing louder." Tasted October 2016.
Pale, bright yellow with a green tinge. Complex aromas of peach, menthol and oatmeal. Rich, sweet and chewy, if not as silky or harmonious today as the Combettes. In fact, this is rather folded in on itself in the early going. Most impressive on the very long finish, which leaves the mouth perfumed. From 70-year-old vines.
