Tasting notes
The 2010 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore shows just how expressive and pure the vintage is. A wine of precision, depth and weightless elegance, the 2010 simply has it all. Sweet red cherry, raspberry, wild flowers are beautifully delineated. The 2010 is translucent, expressive and in a great spot today to offer fine drinking.

The 2010 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is a gorgeous wine that delivers a surprising level of depth and complexity. The wine is redolent of dried cherry, licorice, tar, resin, pressed violet and grilled herb. Its silky texture wraps smoothly over the palate. In all honesty, this Nebbiolo d'Alba tastes as good as a Barolo and should age forward for at least five more years.
The 2010 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is surprisingly shut down today. The Valmaggiore is often open and accessible when young, but that is far from the case with the 2010. Firm yet well-integrated tannins frame red cherries, sweet herbs, menthol and spices in this surprisingly large-scaled, broad Valmaggiore. Layers of fruit continue to build to the vibrant, layered finish. Readers will have to be patient here.
