Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Cherry, plum and nutty oak on the nose. Round and silky in the mouth but with a slightly herbal coolness and good rather than outstanding depth to its currant, cherry and licorice flavors. Finishes with dusty, slightly edgy tannins and good length. Well-made but a bit tart on the aftertaste. Two thousand seven was the first vintage for this wine, and a cooler year than 2008, according to Gareth Robertson, who noted that this bottling is only released when it's ready to drink.

The 2007 Proprietary Red Blend has a melted nose of maraschino, sloes, mocha and a hint of oyster shell that is well defined and gains clarity in the glass. The palate is smooth and honeyed on the entry. This is a voluptuous wine with no hard edges, a core a sweet mulberry and sloe fruit underpinned by crisp acidity. Perhaps there could be a little more finesse towards the finish, but instead, it decides to deliver another spade of luscious fruit. Drink now-2018.
