Tasting notes
Score 93/100 · Drink 1994-2014, Robert Parker, Jan 1997

Still youthful, this dark ruby/garnet-colored wine displays an immense nose of a smoky barbecue pit, black fruits, truffles, and aged beef. With a blast of glycerin, alcohol, and extract, this monster Chateauneuf du Pape has remarkable balance for its immense size. The color exhibits no signs of rust at the edge, only a slight lightening. Thick, juicy, and succulent, this is a lusty, hedonistic Chateauneuf du Pape that can be drunk now or cellared for another 20 years. Last tasted 6/94.

Henri Bonneau

This very old-school property makes the most unique Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are fantastically complex and Boneauu made it as it would have been produced 100 years ago in the commune, using methods that familiar to any of the 11 generations of vignerons in his family who preceded him.
