Score 17/20 · Drink 2010-2013, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2010

The Fannière family own four hectares of vineyards in the Côtes des Blancs region spread across four grand cru villages of Avize, Oiry, Oger and Cramant with vines aged between 30 and 60 years old. Denis Varnier, the current vigneron, uses traditional methods to make these champagnes including the use of the Coquard basket press. 100% Chardonnay, 0 g/l dosage. Very dense on the nose. This could be a good start for someone who wants to discover a bone-dry champagne. Lively and reverberant. Very firm and interesting. GV (JR)
