The dark ruby-colored 1999 Grands-Echezeaux exhibits an appealing sweet red and black fruit-laced nose that also possesses a wild, spicy element. Medium-bodied and juicy, this is a fresh, blackberry, cherry, and raspberry-flavored wine with an impressively lively character and a firm, foursquare finish. Projected maturity: now-2007. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770.

Full deep red. Stylish nose of dark berries, black cherry, minerals, cherry and violet, lifted by tangy spices. Silky, thick and sweet, with striking creaminess and depth of flavor considering that the vines are just 15 years old. Lovely spicy complexity. Youthful finish features dusty oak tannins.
